THIS MORNING, I DINED IN HELL

by jyan posted: 9/28/2007 8:32:53 AM

Yes I was finally able to get into a game of Hellgate: London this morning. Of course, this didn't occur without any problems as the game needed to be patched and one of the files was stuck at 90%. I thought this was some cruel joke. How many problems can I get in trying to get into the game? Scouring the forums, I found that this wasn't a rare occurrence and there was a fix for it already. After installing the fix and downloading a few more files I was finally in and hacking at zombies. Joy! I can't say much because of the NDA but expect at least five screenshots this weekend on the main site.

    Another new track: Pau

by dgamble posted: 9/27/2007 7:20:33 PM

Pau is a tight little street circuit, similar to Monaco.  I've found the Race 07 Cooper to be light and nimble, and to some degree more fauilt tolerant than the faster and heavier cars.  As you can see, though, I have a lot if room for improvement over my first two laps at Pau:

Oh Hellgate, why do you tease me so

by jyan posted: 9/27/2007 8:50:06 AM

I've been wanting to get my hands on Hellgate: London for a long time now and I finally got my beta key. It was sitting in my Hotmail account for 3 days in the Junk Mail folder. Considering I rarely check my Hotmail account, I was lucky have got it out of the Junk area and it pays to follow up with people if you don't get something you were expecting in a few days.

Anyways, so I create an account and download the client which is about 4 Gigs in size. Halfway through one of my friends sends me a link to the Hellgate forums stating the servers will be down for at least the night. GAH! I just don't think Flagship wants me to play the game. The servers should be up today so maybe, just maybe i can get in a few hours with the game.

Good thing I had Team Fortress 2 to keep my busy last night.

Wii getting BioShock.... heh.. yeah right

by jyan posted: 9/26/2007 8:27:52 PM

Rumors rumors rumors. This is a silly one. BioShock coming to Wii? Hardly but stranger things have happened. I'm sure Chuck would have a good laugh at this one.

    Race 07 - Learning a new track

by dgamble posted: 9/26/2007 7:58:17 PM

These are my first couple of laps at Imola in a Formula BMW car.  I miss a few turns, and slow down where I don't need to as I learn my way around.  Eventually, the guys behind me get impatient and punt me out of the way.  Watch for the bug splats on my helmet visor:

Here's my first race at Imola, where I get pwned by the AI cars:

    Halo 3 Final Impressions

by ebonnie posted: 9/26/2007 1:50:32 PM

After taking yesterday off of work to "finish the fight," I can now safely say that Halo 3 is a great game. While the game play is not groundbreaking, the game modes and features are extremely innovative and enjoyable. I played through the entire single player campaign on normal in about 7-8 hours, which seems short, but all that time was action packed and very fun. Halo 3 wont make Halo-haters turn into fans... but it will make the Halo nation proud. The game play has remained intact from the previous Halo games, but now it features better graphics, physics, and over all flow. When you add in the other game modes included in Halo 3, such as mutliplayer, map editor, co-op, and the film saving/viewing you will be hard pressed to find a better value on the Xbox 360. Halo 3 may not be perfect, but it is the real deal... and this is coming from a guy who has never been a huge fan of the series.

    Forums are coming

by jyan posted: 9/25/2007 9:14:28 PM

I've been holding off on adding forums but I think the time's right especially since we have upgraded our bandwidth and have our own server to mess around with. With that, I am going to probably use YetAnotherForum.Net for the site. I just need to brand it and setup the categories. Although, I saw that a new version is coming out soon with better roles and group management.

    SimBin Race 07

by dgamble posted: 9/24/2007 9:07:28 PM

I'm working on a review for SimBin's Race 07, and I thought it would be fun to capture a few videos as I try out different cars on various tracks.

The first is Curitiba Autodrome in Brazil, where I started with Mini Coopers and then moved up to Formula 3000.  The lighting on the Cooper video is horrid, but a little better with the F3000.

    It's Halo 3 day

by jyan posted: 9/24/2007 9:47:54 AM

I don't know about everyone else but I might be one of the few that aren't has hyped about the game. I mean seeing the game up close, the graphics don't seem that much improved and the gameplay's pretty much the same. I've heard there are the repeating areas again. Not that that's going to stop this game from selling a ton.
